This policy explains what personal data Jobs99 (jobs99.co.uk), a trading name of Canterbury Plasterers Ltd, collects, why, and what your rights are. Canterbury Plasterers Ltd is the data controller for the Site. Employers and recruiters who receive your application are separate controllers for the copy they hold. Contact: [email protected].

1. What we collect

• Account details: name, email address, password (stored as a hash), phone number if you add one, town and county, profile picture, and business details for employer and agency accounts.
• Job seeker profile: the CV you upload, your job title, skills, preferred locations and work types, and your answers to screening questions when you apply.
• Adverts, applications and messages: everything you write in an advert, an application, a message or a support request.
• Sign in with Google or Facebook: your name, email address and profile picture from that service.
• Technical data: IP address, approximate country, browser and device type, pages visited, the site you signed up on and the domain you last signed in on, and security signals.
• Cookies: only essential cookies for sign in, security and your preferences. No advertising or tracking cookies.

2. Why we use it and the legal basis

• To run your account, publish adverts, deliver applications to advertisers, send job alerts you asked for and deliver messages: performance of our contract with you.
• To keep the Site safe: fake advert and fraud detection, IP checks, rate limits and bans: our legitimate interest in protecting members.
• To send service emails and push notifications about your adverts, applications and account: performance of our contract. Job alert and marketing emails only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
• To comply with the law and respond to lawful requests from the police, the Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate or courts: legal obligation.
• To improve the Site using aggregated statistics: legitimate interest.

3. Who sees your data

• Advertisers see your application, CV and contact details when you apply to their vacancy, and nothing before that. Your CV is not searchable by employers and is not shown publicly.
• Other members see an employer's business name, logo and adverts. Job seekers' profiles are private.
• Service providers who act on our instructions: hosting in the UK and EU, email delivery, Cloudflare for security and performance, Google and Meta for sign in, and push notification services.
• Authorities where the law requires it. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers for marketing.

4. Shared network

• Jobs99 and marketcity.co.uk run on the same platform and database. Your account, adverts, applications and messages are the same on both.

5. International transfers

• Your data is stored in the United Kingdom and the European Union. Where a provider processes data outside the UK (for example Google or Meta sign in), the transfer relies on the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.

6. How long we keep it

• Account and profile data, including your CV: while your account is open and for up to 12 months after it closes, unless a legal duty requires longer.
• Adverts: while live and for up to 12 months after they close. Applications and messages: 24 months after the last activity. Security logs and IP data: up to 12 months.
• You can download all your data from your account page at any time, and you can delete your account, CV and data from the same page.

7. Your rights

• You have the right to access your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where consent was the basis.
• Use the Download my data and Delete all my data tools on your account page, or email [email protected]. We respond within one month. For a copy of an application held by an employer, contact that employer; we will help you find their details.
• You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you are not satisfied with how we handle your data.

8. Children

• Job seeker accounts are for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger and we remove such accounts when we become aware of them.

9. Security

• Passwords are hashed, connections are encrypted, CVs are stored privately and served only to the advertiser you applied to, access to systems is limited to staff who need it, and we monitor for abuse.

10. Automated decisions

• We use automated checks to block sign ups from known abusive networks, to hold sign ups from outside the UK for review, and to flag suspicious adverts. We do not use automated screening or ranking of applicants. A person reviews any decision that would close an account, and you can ask for a review by emailing [email protected].

11. Changes

• We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the current version and material changes are announced on the Site.
