Terms of use
Last updated: 27 September 2026
These terms of use are a legal agreement between you and Jobs99 ("Jobs99", "we", "us", "our"), the operator of jobs99.co.uk (the "Site"). Jobs99 is a trading name of Canterbury Plasterers Ltd. By visiting the Site, creating an account, posting a job advert, applying for a job, uploading a CV or messaging another member you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. What Jobs99 is, and what it is not
- Jobs99 is an online job board for the United Kingdom. Employers and recruitment agencies post vacancies, and job seekers search, save and apply.
- Jobs99 is not an employer, employment agency or employment business. We do not select, interview, reference, hire, pay or supply workers. We are not a party to any employment contract, and we do not guarantee that an advert is genuine, that a vacancy is still open, or that an applicant is suitable.
- Jobs99 shares one pool of adverts with marketcity.co.uk. A job posted on either site appears on both, and your account works on both.
2. Who may use the Site
- You must be at least 16 years old to create a job seeker account and 18 to post a job. Under 16s may browse only.
- You must give accurate details when you register and keep them up to date. Employers and agencies must register a business account with their real business name.
- We may refuse, suspend or close an account at any time where we believe these terms have been broken, where we see fraud or abuse, or where the law requires it.
3. Your account and security
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for everything done through your account until you tell us it has been compromised.
- Sign in with Google or Facebook creates the same kind of account. We only receive your name, email address and profile picture from those services.
- We may send you service messages about your account, adverts, applications and messages. Job alert emails are optional and can be switched off at any time.
4. Posting a job
- Posting is free. Any paid features are shown with their price before you buy them.
- Every advert must be for a genuine, currently open vacancy with a named or clearly described employer, a real location or a clear statement that the role is remote, and honest details of pay, hours and duties. Adverts used to collect CVs with no live vacancy, or to promote training courses, franchises, multi level marketing or business opportunities, are removed.
- Salary or rate must be shown. Where pay is a range, give the range. Pay must be at or above the National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage for the age group concerned.
- Recruitment agencies and employment businesses must say that they are acting as an agency or employment business, as required by the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003.
- Adverts must comply with the Equality Act 2010: no requirement or preference based on age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage, pregnancy, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation, except where a genuine occupational requirement applies and is stated.
- Adverts must not ask for any payment from applicants, must not ask for bank details, passport scans, National Insurance numbers or other identity documents before an offer of employment, and must not require applicants to contact premium rate numbers.
- We may edit, hide or remove an advert that breaks these terms or the law, and we may limit how many adverts an account can post.
5. Applying for a job
- Applications you send through the Site (CV, cover note, answers to screening questions) go to the advertiser. Once sent, the advertiser holds a copy and is responsible for it under data protection law.
- You must apply honestly. Do not misrepresent your qualifications, experience, right to work or identity.
- Applying is free. If anyone asks you to pay to apply, to pay for training or equipment before starting, or to send money for any reason, do not pay and report the advert to us immediately.
- We do not check advertisers or vacancies before they go live. Take the same care you would with any job found online: research the employer, meet in a safe place, and never hand over identity documents or bank details until you have a written offer from a real business.
6. Employers, recruiters and applicant data
- Advertisers receive applicants' personal data (CVs, contact details, answers) and become independent data controllers for it. You must use it only to consider the applicant for the role applied for, keep it secure, delete it when it is no longer needed, and comply with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- You must not add applicants to marketing lists, sell or share their data, or contact them about anything other than the vacancy without their consent.
- You must respond to lawful requests from applicants to see or delete their data, and you must not discriminate unlawfully in shortlisting or selection.
7. Messages and conduct
- Messages on the Site are for the vacancy in question. No spam, advertising, links to other job sites, threats, abuse or requests for money or identity documents.
- We may read messages where we investigate fraud, abuse, a report from a member or a legal request, and we use automated checks to spot scams.
8. Fees
- Posting and applying are free. Where a paid feature exists, its price is shown before you commit to it, is in pounds sterling, and includes VAT where applicable. Paid features are not refundable once they have started, except where the law says otherwise.
9. Content you post
- You keep ownership of the text, logos and CVs you post. You give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to show, copy, resize and promote adverts on the Site, on marketcity.co.uk, in search engines, in job alert emails and on our social media accounts for as long as the advert exists and for a reasonable time afterwards in caches and archives.
- You promise that your content does not infringe anyone's rights, is not defamatory and does not contain other people's personal data without their permission.
10. Reporting problems and takedowns
- If you believe an advert is fake, discriminatory, asks applicants for money, or is otherwise unlawful, email [email protected] with the link and the reason. We act on reports promptly and may remove an advert while we investigate. Suspected recruitment fraud may be reported to Action Fraud and to the Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate.
11. Our liability
- The Site is provided as it is. We do our best to keep it available and accurate but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error free.
- We are not liable for any loss arising from an advert, an application, an interview, a job offer, an employment relationship or a dispute between members, or from content posted by members, except where the loss is caused by our own negligence or fraud.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything that cannot be limited under UK law.
- Where we are liable, our total liability to you in any 12 month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period, or £100 if you paid none.
12. Intellectual property
- The Jobs99 name, logo, design and software belong to Canterbury Plasterers Ltd or its licensors. You may not copy, scrape, frame or reuse the Site or its adverts without our written permission, other than for your own personal use of the Site.
13. Ending your account
- You can close your account at any time from your account page (Delete all my data). Applications already sent to advertisers stay with those advertisers, who hold their own copies.
- We may close accounts that break these terms. Fake adverts, fee charging and fraud result in a permanent ban.
14. Changes to these terms
- We may change these terms. The date at the top shows the current version. Material changes are announced on the Site or by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
15. Law and disputes
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Consumers living in Scotland or Northern Ireland also have the protection of the mandatory rules of their own country. Disputes go to the courts of England and Wales, or your local courts if you are a consumer.
16. Contact
- Jobs99 is operated by Canterbury Plasterers Ltd. Email [email protected] for account or advert matters and [email protected] for privacy matters.
